Sleep Apnea

What is sleep apnea?

Sleep apnea, which is a potentially serious medical disorder, occurs when breathing repeatedly stops and starts throughout the night. If you feel tired even with a full night's sleep, snore, or wake up gasping, you may be suffering from this condition. Many veterans, particularly those diagnosed with PTSD, TBI, or tinnitus, may be service-connected for sleep apnea as a secondary condition due to aggravation. If you were treated for sleep apnea in service, or have difficulty sleeping due to another service-connected condition, you may be eligible for VA compensation.
