VA Benefits Calculator
Estimate your combined disability rating, your tax-free monthly compensation, and potential back pay using the current 2026 VA rates.
Add each service-connected rating. The VA doesn't add ratings together — it combines them, so two 50% ratings don't make 100%. Enter them all and we'll do the VA math.
Dependents can raise your payment, but only at a combined rating of 30% or higher.
Enter the combined rating the VA granted (or that you expect) and your dependents.
Back pay covers the time between when your benefits should have started and when the claim was decided.
This calculator provides a general estimate based on the published 2026 VA compensation rates (effective December 1, 2025) and the VA's combined-rating method under 38 CFR §4.25. It does not apply the bilateral factor, Special Monthly Compensation (SMC), TDIU, or added amounts for school-age children, dependent parents, or a spouse receiving Aid & Attendance, so your actual payment may be higher. The back pay estimate uses current rates for the whole period; real retroactive pay is calculated at the rate in effect for each year and from the effective date the VA assigns. This is not legal advice, and the VA makes all final determinations.
