PAIRING student Law Clerks WITH experienced ATTORNEYS

In partnership with the Veterans Advocacy Project at the University of Denver Sturm College of Law, the Rocky Mountain Veterans Advocacy Project (RMVAP)  provides law students with legal externship opportunities.

The RMVAP provides an experiential learning atmosphere, allowing students to earn credit hours through a combined externship and classroom learning environment. Law students are partnered with experienced attorneys to advocate on behalf of veterans in need. Students gain hands-on skills in administrative law, client interviewing, legal research and writing, and courtroom procedures.

The RMVAP is committed to fostering the next generation of veterans advocates. The RMVAP hosts both new law students making their initial foray into veterans law, and advanced law students returning to refine their skillset.

“Serving veterans in need of legal services – whether through applying for discharge upgrades or seeking VA benefits – is tremendously meaningful and important work.  The RMVAP provides critical services to deserving veterans and I feel privileged to learn from and work with this important organization.”

“My time with the Veterans Advocacy Project, and more recently with the Rocky Mountain Veterans Advocacy Project, has opened my eyes to the hardships many veterans face while trying to obtain legal representation and benefits. As a law student, I was looking for an opportunity to gain legal experience while providing meaningful services to those in need. Having the opportunity to work directly with veterans on such important matters that substantially impact their lives has been a truly rewarding experience.”
